Do you like to debate with friends and family? Got an opinion on Middle East policy or national health care issues? You’ll have a chance to test out your skills alongside some of the top collegiate debaters in the country at Rutgers Day.
The Rutgers Debate Union will debate those issues, green energy policy, and the pending gender-neutral housing pilot program at Rutgers in formal, 45-minute rounds. People in the audience will also get a chance to speak in between the formal debates.
The debate union, ranked fourth in the nation by the American Parliamentary Debate Association, will provide debaters for both sides of each issue. The team has gotten a great deal of practice in the past year since coach Storey Clayton took over direction of the team.
“We’ve done very well this year,” says Krishna Kava, a junior political science major from Egg Harbor Township, in Atlantic County. “We’re now ranked fourth, which puts us ahead of Princeton, Columbia and Stanford.”
So don’t miss your chance to see the team in action and voice your opinions on the issues at Brower Commons on the College Avenue Campus.
