So You Think You Can Dance?

If you like to dance or simply like watching other people dance, Rutgers Day has many options for you.

See the glitz and glamour of ballroom dance competitors from all around the nation at the Rutgers Ballroom Club’s 12th Annual DanceSport Competition, held in the College Avenue Gym. You may have cheered on the team when they appeared in the popular television show, ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ Now, you will get the chance to cheer them on again in a live competition.

For those who will be on Busch Campus for the day, stop by the RU Salsa Performance & Workshop. The RU Salsa team will be on the Big R Stage at 2:25 p.m., performing a classic dance and then hosting a quick tutorial so you will get to learn some of the basics behind salsa dancing.

Later on, check out what some of our Greek organizations have in store on the College Avenue Campus. You can cheer on the brothers of Lambda Sigma Upsilon on the Big R Stage at 12:50 p.m. as they perform a stroll dance. The sisters of Chi Upsilon Sigma will then be performing a triplet of stepping, strolling, and saluting at 1:35 p.m. on the Scarlet Stage.

If you are heading to Cook Campus, make sure to stop by the Middle Eastern Belly Dance Troupe performance at 12:20 p.m. on the Big R Stage. The talented women of the troupe will be performing traditional and modern belly dance for visitors to get a glimpse into this distinct art form.
